Assigning work to contractors

In Anchorlet, contractors are attached to specific issues rather than to properties. This way one contractor can work on many properties, and one property can use different contractors depending on the job.

How to assign a contractor to an issue

  1. Open the issue — either from the Issues tab or from the property page.
  2. In the Contractor field, pick a name from your contractors list.
  3. Save the issue.

That's it. The contractor is now linked to the issue, and anyone looking at the issue knows who's handling it.

If the contractor isn't on the list yet

You need to add them to the contractors list first. See Adding a contractor. It takes under a minute, and once they're on the list they're available for every future issue.

Sending them the details

If the contractor has an email on file and you've enabled contractor notifications in your workspace settings, Anchorlet will email them automatically when assigned, including:

  • The property address
  • The issue title and description
  • Any photos or documents attached to the issue
  • Your contact details so they can get in touch

If you'd rather control the communication yourself, turn off contractor email notifications in Settings → Preferences. You can then phone, text or WhatsApp them directly — Anchorlet still records who's assigned regardless.

Reassigning

If the first contractor can't take the job, open the issue and pick a different one from the list. The old assignment is cleared; the new contractor takes over. The issue history shows the reassignment for your records.

Tracking who did what

After an issue is closed, the contractor's name stays on the record forever. Over time this gives you a clear picture of:

  • Which contractors you use most
  • Which contractors work on which properties
  • Who you've paid for what work, when

All searchable, all exportable.
