Privacy and your data
Elliot is an AI assistant. AI assistants typically raise two questions: who sees my data? and is my data used to train the AI? The short answers are: only people you've authorised, and no.
This article covers the detail.
What Elliot reads
Elliot can read the data inside the workspace you're currently using — properties, tenancies, issues, documents, emails, contractors. Elliot reads this data to answer your questions, and for no other reason.
Elliot does not read:
- Other workspaces, even if you have access to them — each workspace is isolated
- Data from other Anchorlet customers
- Anything outside Anchorlet
- The public internet, unless a specific feature explicitly calls out that it does
How questions are processed
When you ask Elliot something, here's what happens:
- Your question is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, along with the relevant data Elliot needs to answer
- Claude generates a response
- The response is returned to Anchorlet and shown to you
- Anthropic discards the request after processing
Anthropic does not retain your data beyond the time needed to answer the request. Anthropic does not use your data to train Claude. These commitments are contractual — they're in Anthropic's terms of service for business customers like Anchorlet.
What's stored and where
Your workspace data lives in Anchorlet's database, hosted on Supabase (EU region). Elliot doesn't create a separate copy — it reads from the same database, answers your question, and the answer is stored alongside your conversation history for your later reference.
Specifically stored:
- Your questions to Elliot
- Elliot's responses
- The workspace you asked in (so old conversations appear under the right portfolio)
Not stored:
- The intermediate data Elliot looked at to answer your question (that's read live from your database each time, not copied into a chat log)
- Your identity on Anthropic's side — Anthropic sees the data content, not "this is Glen Power asking."
GDPR and your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. This applies to Elliot conversations the same way it applies to everything else in Anchorlet.
- Export: Settings → Preferences → Export my data. You'll receive a ZIP with everything, including Elliot chat history.
- Delete: Delete your workspace and everything in it, including Elliot's memory of past conversations, is permanently removed within 90 days.
- Correct: You can edit any data in your workspace at any time. Past Elliot conversations are historical and can't be altered (the same way you can't un-say something in a Slack channel), but they don't affect future answers.
For the full privacy picture, see the Anchorlet Privacy Policy.
What Elliot won't do
Even within your workspace, Elliot operates with deliberate restraint:
- Elliot won't send an email without your explicit approval of the draft
- Elliot won't delete data
- Elliot won't change settings or billing
- Elliot won't share data across workspaces
- Elliot won't respond to attempts to override these rules (prompt injection from malicious emails or documents, etc.)
Third-party AI providers
Anchorlet currently uses Anthropic's Claude for Elliot. If we change AI providers in the future (e.g. to test a different model), we'll update the Privacy Policy and notify existing users. The core principle — your data is not used for training, and is only processed to answer your requests — is a non-negotiable requirement of any provider we work with.
